Mission Statement

St. Peter the Apostle parish, situated in the diocese of Birmingham in Alabama, strives to provide spiritual nourishment to all Catholics through the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and the Sacraments. All is for the greater glory of God, recalling this advice from 1 Peter 2:2-3:

"Like newborn babes, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow in salvation; for you have tasted the kindness of the Lord."

Jesus Christ, the Redeemer is not only the center of our lives but He is central in our personality and in our way of life and whose presence is veiled under the species of bread and wine, the Eucharist, since according to His words, John 6, he says:

"I am the bread of life . . .he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in Me and I in him."

In accordance with the letter of St. James, salvation is not by faith alone. Hence, works of charity accentuate our belief in Christ’s presence in our lives and as Catholics we are obliged to say with St. Paul,

“It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me”.

The Church is not a corporation, it is the Bride of Christ. It is the means of salvation and may the Redeemer fill our endeavors with His providence to become “perfect as our Heavenly Father is perfect”.

St. Theresa advises us that Christ has no hands to do His work, but ours. May our lives be guided by the Beatitudes so that others will see the face of Christ in us.
